MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 411

Welcome to the 411th edition of Phish.Net's Mystery Jam Monday, the first and easiest of April. This week's pick comes courtesy of MJM Hall of Famer @justino. The winner will receive an MP3 download code courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. To win, be the first person to identify the song and date of the mystery clip. Each person gets one guess to start – if no one answers correctly in the first 24 hours, I'll post a hint. After the hint, everyone gets one more guess before Wednesday at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Good luck!

*Reminder: For the first MJM of each month, only folks who have never won an MJM are allowed to answer before the hint. If you have never won an MJM, please answer as a blog comment below. If you have previously won an MJM, but you'd like to submit a guess before the hint, you may do so by PMing me; once the hint has been posted, everyone should answer on the blog. If that's confusing to you, check out the handy decision tree that I threw together for you. If you're not sure if you've won before, check in the MJM Results spreadsheet linked below.

Answer: Congrats to @Chicken_Sub_In_Your_Hand on their second win in the past three weeks, this time quickly identifying the 7/24/98 "Runaway Jim" via PM. Swing by the usual place at the usual time Monday for some more mystery quarantunes.

Ha! Me too!! I actually thought I was reasonably close! @UCPete has actually given me an unofficial award for ineptitude "Is never remotely close, but still weirdly keeps trying."

I swear I’m the suckiest Phish head at this game. On several occasions I’ve just listened to the jam in question and still can’t name it. It’s humbling.

Agreed!! One time, I was literally just listening to a show I went to, the jam was just from that show and I was "this actually sounds familiar!" Then one of these wizards get it before I finished that show. I think their brains work different than mine!

Coleman_ Damn, is it the Jimphony - and if so what part? I was thinking Orlando '95 Stashteca initially, and listened to the whole jam yesterday. Wasn't a fruitful venture, but sure as hell always an enjoyable one.

uctweezer sorry got distracted - no hint needed, we have a winner via PM, will announce later

A_Buddhist_Prodigy How the hell did anyone get this?!?!?!? I was 100% sure (well as close as I can get in the damn game!) that it was a Manteca tease/quote! Congrats! Also, how is this 'easy'?!? :)

And at least two people got it right too. :D I PM’d Pete early in the evening, but @Chicken_Sub_In_Your_Hand had already beat me to it.

I’ll tell you the way I found it: It sounded to me like 1998, and actually reminded me of the Star Lake Jim. It kind of sounded like it came from a Runaway Jim too, so I also had that in the back of my head, while searching. Then I just looked through the ‘98 jam chart and skimmed through some jams. I also ctrl-F’d the chart for keywords. ‘Funk’ was one that I was repeatedly looking for, because of the wah Trey’s using in the clip. That didn’t really narrow it a ton though, as funk is a pretty frequent jam type/description. But I eventually came across this Jim, skimmed it and knew it matched up.

Congrats @Chicken_Sub_In_Your_Hand!

I'm definitely searching the jam charts, but I heard Manteca and searched for that and I, too got overwhelmed. I think maybe . . . just maybe one day, I'll get lucky!
