Though I wrote one of the blurbs, I did not in fact vote on the rankings, just for the record.

But while MPP1 has all the cool setlist stuff and wonderful flow, it simply lacks a top shelf jam from the tour. Right away, that handicaps it massively versus the other top ten contenders. There's no amount of "check out the fun Antelope, plus a cool McGrupp" etc etc etc that can overpower the Tier 1 jams found in other shows...imo.
I think the whole reason people are irked by the omission of MPP1 is because in addition to the great first set, and the bustouts, and antics and segues and sandwiches and flow, it also has 2 titanic jams in the 2nd set. `Arguably the best 46 days of the year (better than Magna imo), and clearly the best Piper of the year. Whether one would consider them among the elite jams of the year is up to them. Personally I think both are upper echelon jams and in particular I listen to the Piper a lot and think it should be a highly recommended jam (46 days already is). It's a monster upper tier show.
